This brings me on to another point of order that you guys can dwell upon as we start to draw close to wrapping up this Pathfinder arc.

We basically have two options.

1. Continue with Arc 3. As you are likely aware, I left a hook open with regards to the shifting political situation in the desert lands. While I haven't finalised the storyline and the specific gameplay elements of it, if this is something you want to do, I can start working on that. Naturally, this will take me some time. The same is true if you wish to continue this Pathfinder adventure but don't fancy that particular arc. I can come up with something that leans more into an area you have more interest in, though we'd need to discuss what you want.

2. As an alternative, while I work on the Pathfinder adventure, I have a one shot I'm working on that is approaching completion and I'd love to playtest it on the forums as I've written it up as a complete 3rd/5th Edition dual format module. I was hoping I might stick it up in a few places and perhaps draw some traffic based on it.
It's a paladin centric adventure (well pally or cleric would work) where the group is sent to investigate an abandoned temple. It's largely investigative, with the goal being to examine the temple and the lingering spirits of its monks in order to piece together their identities and their crimes in order to forgive or condemn them (as you judge individually fit). Specific rituals must be performed to do so, think combats with a twist, not simply reducing hitpoints to zero.

In either case, Gimble has expressed an interest in joining and may perhaps be interested in both. I'm going to repost this on the games looking for people board so he has permission to weigh in. If you could discuss this post over there rather than in this thread, I'd appreciate it.

Couple of options - Dispel Magic on flying guy to try and bring him down (last level 3) or hold person on either him or C6. I feel like the former is the best move, but open to suggestions.

Honestly I'm not sure, so it's your call. Nirili hasn't been able to hit the broad side of a barn.

Just a heads up that further to Pell's previous message, he will now likely be absent for a little while.

Did we decide on something that I see new characters being created?

I don't think it was fully agreed upon, but the consensus seems to be continuing with act 3 but with new characters.

I'll follow the group in this, since I'm the new recruit.

I'm making my character with option 1 in mind, but I think it can work just as well for option 2 (but would the character creation rules be different?).

I too am operating under the impression that Act 3 will be Nirili with two new characters heading into Desert Lands arc.

OK. I've done my outline of Arc 3. As Nirili will be the only one going forward (working on the assumption she survives the current encounter), it is my intention to have Viales recalled to the Conclave and for Nirili's contract to be dissolved, making her a free agent. It's up to you, Grodech, how much incentive Nirili needs to continue but for your consideration, I present the following hooks in advance:

1. Gortig's escort was killed on his way to meet with Master Rashkata. He enlists your services to escort him back to the Desert Lands where Jelani will pay for your support for the Arc.
2. You meet Gortig randomly when he spots your IB emblem and notes there are some of your men already fighting for Prince Jelani.
3. You contact the IB leader when Viales is recalled and he suggests you offer the IB's support to Prince Jelani.

Or anything else along those lines that appeals to you.

Ultimately the intent is for Gortig and Nirili to return to the Desert Lands together.

As for tying Dethmir in, I'm still working on that. I'm gonna send Gimble some DMs over Discord with a little more of the situation so he knows what Jelani knows. The main decision here I guess is whether Dethmir has ties to Gortig or ties to Nirili.

Gortig and Dethmir should get along famously I'm sure Dethmir won't care for Nirili much either.

Any of those hooks is fine with me. If the IB is fighting with the Prince, chances are there's a higher-up present there already. I'm not sure how she would be able to contact the IB leader from Penumbra, but my assumption is that she would likely need to escort Viales back to the Conclave unless he receives word that the contract is dissolved before he returns. Maybe when Viales receives word (via magical means, I assume), it would come with word that she's to wait for Gortig to arrive and be his escort to the Desert Lands as her next assignment.

In which case I think the logical step is that Rashkata will accompany Viales back to the Conclave after contacting them magically, he can then issue Nirili new orders to protecc Gortig (from her higher ups), ostensibly as a favour and show of respect to Jelani but also a way of having a trustworthy account of events without sending an actual Conclave member, which would be politically awkward as the Desert lands are not part of the Kingdom of Baserra.

Was anything said about the starting gold for the new characters and what items are available to them?

Starting gold is tangent on what happens with the conclusion of act 2, given that Nirilli is coming over from there. Starting equipment...I'm not sure but I've been trying to take into account a desert environment.

What I've put in my WIP page is just notation for ideas XD

As for Dethmir's inclusion to the campaign and ties to the story/characters, I was thinking something along the lines of his clan has been involved with the battles thus far fought and he's on a tactical mission.

You can begin with level 5 wealth. You will gain a little more depending on how far through level 5 Nirili is after this arc but that is TBD. So you can either spend up now and have some pocket money later or wait until the arc concludes and see how much you have in total.

What sources can we use for items? Is there a default for pathfinder 1 games?

There's an SRD which I presume has the DMG items much like 3.5e.
If you're asking which books are allowed, I'm open to most but reserve the right to veto anything batshit crazy.

Posting this here as I'm away from Discord: does the dwarven boulder helmet critical hit confirmation bonus of +2 stack with that from vital guard armour modification? I think it does given that the vital guard appears untyped bonus.

Helmet description: "In addition, a dwarven boulder helmet grants a +2 circumstance bonus to the wearer’s AC against critical hit confirmation rolls."

Vital Guard description: "Whenever an opponent scores a critical threat against the wearer, treat the wearer’s armor bonus as +2 higher than normal for the confirmation roll."

Those are typed differently (circumstance bonus and armor bonus), so I would assume they would stack.

Grodech is correct. Armour bonus stacks with circumstance bonus.

Those still alive earn 1440 xp for the fight.
