Talaxia Feedback Thread

Post by Charon »

To keep the other threads free of clutter, please use this thread for any feedback or suggestions. I'm eager to hear thoughts so don't be afraid to speak up. :P

Obviously this is a WiP and bits and pieces may change as I go.

In looking through everything it seems pretty interesting. One thing I noticed was the map and its geographical features vs the kingdoms. Typically the natural barriers provided by the land would provide defacto dividing lines between the kingdoms. Short of an all-out war, these typically wouldn't change, and if they did the new border would be delineated by another natural barrier.

That lake (sea?) in the middle, surrounded by mountains is very interesting to me. I think you could really create some chaos between the kingdoms there by making it a neutral area ruled by the druids. They would welcome the casteless, providing they can live in peace and harmony with nature. It would give the casteless something to strive for. The kingdoms would hate the neutrality, but also rely on it for objective dispute resolution. Once on neutral land, any being is beyond harm unless they harm something else, but the kingdoms actively try to prevent anyone from going there. Anyone causing harm beyond basic living is dealt with swiftly, and usually fatally (ie., hunting for food is ok, but killing for sport is not).

Also, since death is a natural part of the circle of life, anything necromatic in nature is abhorrent to the druids in the neutral land, and anything necromantic in nature will not work there.

Interesting idea. I'll have to roll this around in my head for a while. The big flaw is that the Elven oppressors certainly don't want the casteless striving for anything and would be loathe to give them too much freedom. They are to be kept in line lest they ruin the kind of plans one can only appreciate with a centuries long lifespan.
Perhaps if the presence of casteless there were more clandestine, the druids not necessarily actively hiding them but also not actively informing their elven overlords of the presence of rebels. Could certainly drive some conflicts with the Kethrillian, especially if the druids have sanctified the land making it difficult for his undead minions to traverse.
I'll work on it.
